Kechi Okwuchi born on October 29, 1989 is a Christian Nigerian-American singer as well as a motivational speaker. Kechi was one of the two survivors in the Sosoliso Airlines Flight crash on December 10, 2005. She is also the finalist of America’s Got Talent: Season 12 in 2017.

  • Kechi was one of the two survivors in the Sosoliso Airlines Flight crash on December 10, 2005 that claimed 107 lives, in which 60 people were her school mates from Loyola Jesuit College. Kechi received third degree burns from the crash.
  • Kechi was air-lifted to Milpark Hospital for immediate medical attention and treatment. Later she was moved to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Galveston, Texas, United States where Kechi has undergone over a hundred reconstructive surgeries.
  • In 2015, Kechi graduated from the University of Saint Thomas located in Houston, Texas, United States, with a First Class Degree. Kechi was also the student speaker at the Commencement Ceremony.
  • Kechi was a speaker at TedxEuston where she gave a talk, Girls- know thyself. 
  • In 2017, Kechi auditioned for America’s Got Talent: Season 12  as a singer. She finished the competition as a finalist.
  • In 2019, Kechi also participated in America’s Got Talent: The Champions, where Simon Cowell gave her the golden buzzer, sending her straight to the final, but unfortunately in the final she didn’t come in the top 5.
